What is a Web Directory?
A website which has the listing of some websites arranged in different categories is known as a web directory. There was a time when people use to search websites from these types of web directories only. That period has created a boom in directories industry.

Due to the number of visitors these type of directories were getting most of the webmaster started creating at least one or two web directories for him or her self. Due to this type of hype lots of web directories grown up during that period. Even today lots of new web directories are coming up.

From the point of view of earning too these types of web directories are very much fruitful to the webmasters. Webmasters can even generate money from Google Adsense or from charging a few dollars to the owner of the websites who wanted to place there websites in some good place on that directory.

Even from the point of view of the webmaster, these type of directories are fair enough, since they can promote there website by just submitting there website in these web directories and in return they can get some quality one way back links and a good amount of targeted visitors and a better position in the SERP i.e. Search Engine Result Pages.

Now, if these sites are so important for them then they must be aware from the process of directory submission, which is in fact quite simple. You just require a few things in your hand before starting the directory submissions.

First one is the category for your website, it should be clear to the mind of the person who is going to submit the website. Some directories prefer a very strict rule for the proper category of the websites. So they will surely reject your site if you submitted your website in an unrelated category.

Next is to create a few titles for your website. Generally, most of the directories don’t allow entering some other title than the original name of the site, but if they allow submitting different titles then please submit something which is your main keyword. But it should not be only keyword; it should be something which has the meaning.

Other thing which is very much essential for directory submission is the proper description of the website. The person who is going to submit the website should be accompanied with two or three different descriptions of different word length. The reason behind this is that different directories ask for different word length’s description, so we must require submitting different descriptions in different directories.

Proper care should be given while writing the description for the websites; it should not be a collection of keywords only. It should reflect some meaning.
